Interdisciplinary – Year 2 Castles Day

This week Year 2 totally immersed themselves into their Castles topic. They began the day in the Hub where they ran across the bridge on the interactive floor to enter the majestic Talbot Heath Castle, this was followed by visiting various rooms of the awe-inspiring castle.  Anna, the lady-in-waiting, (aka Mrs Worsley) had a dilemma that needed solving; she had stolen some jewellery and Year 2 had to decide if she should be sent to the dungeons.

Royal crowns were crafted and medieval dancing was taught.  The pupils thoroughly enjoyed javelin throwing – medieval style – in PE working up a great appetite and were more than ready for a special banquet of fine meat, vegetables and raspberry cheesecake all lovingly prepared by the Castle Chef.  Upon entering the banquet hall (the Boarding dining room) guest had to gain access through a fully operational drawbridge.

The afternoon was spent learning about Castle jobs and applying for various roles.  Year 2 ended their busy day with a fashion show to model their beautiful outfits.  Thank you to everyone who helped make the day so spectacular!
