6th Form Open Evening Confirms TH as a Popular Choice

The Sixth Form Open Evening this week proved to be a highly successful event once again, as many pupils from the current Key Stage 3 and 4 attended, alongside a range of pupils from many local schools, to learn about the wealth of opportunities the TH Sixth Form provides.

Headteacher, Tracy Harris focused on celebrating the new initiatives on offer to the girls such as the introduction of A-Level Sociology, community work placements and the Junior Sports Leader Award. She also announced the introduction of A-Level Business Studies as well as a new means tested academic bursary, alongside the already well-established success of the Extended Project Qualification and popular Gold DofE award.

Heads of Sixth Form, Miss Webb and Mr Sinclair-Smith spoke to parents and pupils about the Sixth Form: ‘We find ourselves in a fast-moving world and one of the things we pride ourselves on, here at Talbot Heath, is the fact that our pupils are on track, and that as a school, we are extremely well equipped to deal with the pace of this fast-changing world. Our adaptability as a school means that we are ready to face any changes.’ Adding: ‘At the end of the two years in the Sixth Form, our pupils are well prepared to start their higher education journey, be it university, embarking on an apprenticeship or choosing to have a gap year or a deferred entry to higher education. Whatever path they choose, our pupils always enjoy coming back to see us to share their news and pride in what they have achieved.’

Mrs Harris thanked the staff for their continued efforts, enthusiasm and commitment to the school, and thanked the girls who volunteered – giving speeches, playing the piano and as subject ambassadors – to make the open evening such a success.
