A warm welcome was given to over 75 families who attended the Senior school Open Evening at Talbot Heath last week. As always, an exciting array of activities and presentations were organised for the many prospective families to inform and inspire; many were visiting from a variety of local schools and booked tours to view the school and enjoy the unique woodland grounds.
Explosive experiments were performed in the science centre; history tours were taken in the WWII bunker, and A-Level Theatre Studies rehearsals were in full-swing in the drama studio. Cake decorating, badge-making and flying drones all highlighted the exciting elements of the curriculum on offer. Visitors enjoyed the delicious smoothie bar throughout the evening, hosted by Holroyd Howe, and watched the students in full-swim as the Swim Academy showcased their talents in the Olympic sized pool.
Speaking to parents during the open event for the school, Tracy Harris highlighted the school’s unique blend of heritage and tradition with dynamism and forward-thinking education. Also focusing on the founder, Mary Broad, Mrs Harris said: ‘Our motto given to us by our founder in 1886 is Honour Before Honours. At Talbot Heath we aspire to act honourably in all we do. To underpin this motto last year we launched our new school values: Generous Hearts; Curious Minds; Adventurous Spirits. At Talbot Heath we want your daughter to have a generous heart, a curious mind and an adventurous spirit in all areas of her education at Talbot Heath.’
Mrs Harris thanked the staff and pupils for the hard work that went into making the Open Event such a success: ‘We are extremely proud of our school and what it has to offer. Such a large-scale event takes a great amount of effort behind the scenes from our fantastic marketing, admissions and support teams, alongside the dedicated teaching staff and pupils.’ Adding: ‘It was a very busy evening with lots of interest in joining Upper 3 and other years in September. We look forward to welcoming them to the school community soon.’
