Congratulations to the U16 netball team for their superb success on the court this week.
The U16 Netball team travelled to Weymouth this week to play in the next round of the Dorset County finals at Budmouth College. They were in a group facing tough competition playing BSG, PGS, Sherborne, Gillingham and Beaminster. The TH team played incredibly well, with some closely contested matches, and finishing the group only narrowly losing 1 match to PGS. The results were as follows:
TH v BSG Won 8 – 7
TH v PGS Lost 12 – 10
TH v Sherborne Won 13 – 7
TH v Gillingham Won 16- 5
TH v Beaminster Won 16 – 8
Overall, the group ended with 3 teams – PGS, BSG and TH – all tying 1st, (as TH lost 1 match), although the Talbot Heath team scored the most goals – 63 in total! The England Netball rules state placings are decided on goal average, unfortunately, that meant the team were dropped to 3rd place and were unable to qualify for the semi finals on this occasion.
TH staff member, Louise Burgan who supported the team said how proud she was of their performance: ‘The team played incredibly well and certainly deserved a semi-final place.’ Adding, ‘They will continue to compete in the Sisters in Sport National competition, so we will focus on this and hope to achieve a great result in this event. Nonetheless, well done to the girls for reaching the Dorset County finals.’
