Uplifting STEM Club

STEM club students recently completed their latest challenge, where they were tasked with designing a lifting device to rescue individuals from elevated locations. With limited materials at their disposal, the challenge focused on pneumatics, the study of compressed air and its applications in mechanical engineering. Students could compete in one of two categories: greatest height or heaviest mass lifted.

Eliana E triumphed in the height category, reaching an impressive 1780mm. In the mass-lifting category, the 6th form team of Zuzanna, Katie, and Caldia claimed victory by lifting 1.2kg.

Next up for the team is the Rotary STEM competition in March.

STEM club is open to all senior pupils from Year 7 to 13; meeting Monday lunchtimes in the Design room at 1:30pm with Mr Morris. All welcome!
