The school has launched an Academic Excellence Programme this week to enhance the learning of pupils at Talbot Heath.
The events, beginning at the start of March, will run during lunchtimes by senior school teaching staff and are aimed at pupils who love learning and setting themselves high academic standards.
The ‘Academic Excellence Programme’ is part of the school’s provision to stretch and challenge our students at Talbot Heath School. If you love learning and setting yourself high academic standards, these lectures and seminars will be invaluable. All students are welcome to attend but the events will be especially useful to students aiming for the most competitive universities and apprenticeships, providing them with the necessary tools and insights to excel in their applications and interviews. All academic scholars are expected to attend at least half of these sessions over the academic year.
The lectures include: Classics ‘Digging up the past’; Religious Studies ‘God and robots: will AI transform religion?’ and Computer Science ‘A deep dive into the impact of Artificial Intelligence on the future.’ The first lecture “The hidden life of medieval disability”was presented by history teacher Miss Allen, and focused on a deep dive into how the medieval world saw disability and how disabled individuals helped themselves and helped each other.
