Magical Visit to Harry Potter Studios

As part of their Art project, Lower 4 went on an integral trip to the the Warner Brothers studio tour, London, showcasing the making, design, concepts and graphics of Harry Potter alongside a fun and memorable day.

Written by Jemima H L43P:

The trip began with an amazing lesson that presented how and why certain graphics of Harry Potter were made, including what they were based on, telling us how things like the Weasleys’ sweets had to be designed a specific way to make it look like they were made by them, like their age, time period, funds, and so on.

In the lesson, we also saw how certain designs were linked to real life, for example, references to Russian war propaganda, fireworks, and more, and saw where these references were used in the movie, the signs, the newspaper, posters, logos, text on anything, Weasley sweets – the list goes on.

The purpose of the trip was to see and learn different graphic designs/purposes that were made in the Harry Potter movie, and to take pictures of the graphics for future reference. It was such an enjoyable school trip, having a design workshop, taking photos, going on broomsticks and of enjoying the gift shop.

In the studios, I could see graphics everywhere: bookshelves posters, advertisements, and much much more. Every section had graphics interpreted into everything, like poster recreation, Diagon Alley, items in the gift shop and anything made to look Harry Potter style, eye-catching. This was very useful because I was able to take lots of pictures.

My favourite part had to be the gift shop, although I love gift shops ANYWHERE, and my second favourite part was walking through each section until we arrived at the food section – I even tried butter beer! It wasn’t that good, but I still loved the experience. I also enjoyed where a dragon came running at me and others – very exciting! Overall, I liked everything, and if I continued, I would just be describing the whole trip!

Thank you to Miss Coates for organising such a memorable visit and to the staff who also accompanied the trip.
