Canford Cross-Country Relays

Congratulations to the girls who participated in the inter girls cross-country competition, attaining 4th place by the narrowest of margins – Aggie M, Eve F, Theia B and Polina K. Further felicitations to the senior cross-country team also, who the Canford Relays, beating schools such as Sherborne, Leweston, Kingswood and Canford. Erin W was the fastest runner of the day and received a medal for fastest lap along with Jemima C, who received a medal for third fastest runner on the day. The team also included Immy T and Nancy T all four of whom also ran in the English Schools National Championships last weekend.
At the Nationals, Erin placed 17th out of 302 runners which is a fantastic achievement and Nancy placed 125th but only about a minute behind some of the lead runners in the senior girls race. Immy T placed 153rd in the inter girls out of 328 runners in her first year of participating in cross-country seriously, and Jemima C was 65th in the junior girls out of 333 runners – again within a minute of the lead runners.
Head of Sport Lou Lindon congratulated everyone involved: ‘Such an amazing achievement and I’m so pleased and proud of the students. Thanks especially to Rachel Newcombe for all you put in to providing these opportunities for the girls.’
