Talbot Heath took part in the Dorset Schools Cross-Country County Championships at Kings Park this week, where all of the girls ran particularly well.
In the minor girls category, the best performance came from Liberty B who was placed 14th out of 120 runners. The other team members all finished in the top half of the field.
In the junior girls group – Year 8 and 9 – Jemima C was placed 2nd, Aggie M 22nd, Isla H 24th and Theia B 37th. Again the rest of the team ran very well in a large field of around 120 runners, in particular Amelia B and Amelia R-P, both are Year 8’s running against Year 9’s.
In the Inter girls class, – Year 10 and 11 – Immy T ran a fantastic race to be placed 6th; and Eve F was placed 24th, which was a great run (she does not actually train for cross-country instead, she mainly focuses on her strength as a hockey player).
Finally, in the senior girls category, Erin W was placed 1st and Nancy gained 2nd place overall. This was Erin’s last ever county school’s race as she is now in Upper 6; she has participated in all of these races since Year 5 for Talbot Heath since Year 5, so it was a memorable result to finish on. Mrs Newcombe said how proud she was of everyone’s performances and extended her congratulations to everyone involved.
Those who finished in the top 10 have since been selected to run for Dorset in the South-West Championships in February in Newquay, Cornwall: Jemima C, Immy T, Erin W and Nancy T have all been selected. Well done and good luck to everyone involved!
