Congratulations to former TH pupil Elle R, who has just secured a chef placement at The Goring, London’s Luxury Hotel in Belgravia. Elle is currently training on the Specialist Chef Apprenticeship Scholarship Programme at Bournemouth and Poole College, arranged by the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts; all of her learning will take place exclusively in Michelin starred restaurants. The 17-year-old only recently discovered that she will be sponsored and trained for the next two years by The Goring, under Executive Chef Graham Squire, and will therefore be moving to London after Christmas.
Food Technology teacher, Mrs Moran said, ‘I am beyond proud of her. I have never taught a student like her in my 30-year career.’
Last year, Elle was the runner-up in the 16-18 category, of the Inspiring Culinary Generations (ICG) – a national competition designed to acknowledge and encourage excellence in the catering industry and at home – competing against students from around the country who had already been at catering college for over a year. Elle began training on the Specialist Chefs’ Scholarship Programme at Bournemouth and Poole College in September, in a bid to become an elite within the industry.
