Talbot Heath school student and athlete, Emily P, has secured her first-choice university at Loughborough after achieving three A-Levels, including A* for PE. She will begin her studies in Sport with a Foundation Year for Elite Athletes specifically designed for students performing at a very high standard in a chosen sport.
Other successes are widespread throughout the Sixth Form as the vast majority of girls at the Rothesay Road school secured their first-choice universities, with 100% pass rate; 82% were A*- B grades. Charlie W achieved A* and As in her A-Levels, as well as A* in her EPQ, to secure her place at Surrey university to study Veterinary Science; Georgia S achieved three A*s and an A to study Physics at Exeter, and Shun Yan L achieved three A* grades and an A to study Physiotherapy at King’s College London – they are part of the 50% of students who secured an A*- A grade. Once again, the breadth of subjects the TH students will be studying are varied and ambitious: from Criminology and Cybersecurity, to Physiotherapy and Forensic Psychology, as well as Social Work, Medicine and Politics.
Mrs Holloway offered her congratulations to the girls and staff, and stated how pleased she was with the A-Level results which are ten percent higher than the pre-pandemic 2019 examinations. She said, ‘I am delighted for our pupils; a brilliant team effort between our pupils and amazing staff has helped them to realise their goals. It is wonderful to see pupils realising their aspirations after two years of hard work and I wish them every success for the future.’
