This year’s National Final of the Inspiring Culinary Generations Cookery Competition took place on Friday 26th January at Bournemouth and Poole College. A team of industry leading judges, including James Golding of The Pig Group, Luke Matthews of Chewton Glen and celebrity chef, Lesley Walters, were tasked with assessing the skills and creativity of the aspiring young chefs. Four Talbot Heath students were invited to compete: Ella R, Opal L and Ruby B in the 14-16 age category, and Malka L in the 11-13 category.
The judges were astounded by the enthusiasm, quality of food and originality of ideas shown by all the finalists, stating that the standard was incredible, and all the participants should be very proud of their achievements.
Malka cooked her way to the winner’s position in her age category, with a white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake in a white chocolate dome, with a shortbread base and raspberry coulis. Opal was hot on her heels as the runner-up in the age category above, with her Thai Penang Tofu Curry with Jasmine Rice.
Congratulations go to all the team TH young chefs! Thanks go to Mrs Moran for her continued enthusiasm and support.
