Sports News: Scholars, Ambassadors and Fencing

Just before the half-term break, TH sports scholars were invited to attend a talk with GTC (Good Things Coming) Strength and Conditioning coach Jack Phillips. Jack, who is the founder of GTC, spoke about important elements to consider as a female in sports performance enhancing physical capabilities. The pupils found the talk enjoyable and inspirational. Thanks go to Mrs Lindon for organising the talk.

Another sports event took place at the end of October, for pupils from Year 6, the Prefect and Head Girl team, alongside Lower 6 sports leaders, who all travelled to Avonbourne school for the Primary Bronze ambassador sports leader training day. Year 6 students joined other local students to have a go at some different games and activities and develop their communication and leadership skills; the aim being to learn the new skills and to implement their ideas back at school. THe Lower 6 sports leaders were there assisting with some the activities for the day and gaining valuable experience for their sports leaders course. Thanks again to the Sports department for organising this useful opportunity for the pupils.
Fencing was also recently offered to 12 senior students who enjoyed a Fencing taster session in the Old Gym, with local coach Matthew, from Dorset Musketeers. The girls had a great time learning a new skill and some even want to take it further having had a taste of the sport.
This follows two new sports taster sessions organised by the sports department earlier in the term – skateboarding and lacrosse. Grateful thanks to Lou Lindon for providing these unique opportunities for the pupils.
