Sushi and Japanese Club

As part of the Wellbeing Wednesday activities, Mrs Atkins and Mrs Cox are running the Japanese club. The students have been learning some Japanese alphabet characters (although it is very hard as there are three alphabets!) as well as colours and numbers. The group  have tried some Japanese snacks like red bean paste mochi, which was either loved or hated… In November, pupils made freshly rolled sushi and many were pleasantly surprised by the results.

It has been a delight to begin discovering different cultures and students have even dipped their toes in learning some Korean and Chinese! The students involved have been enthusiastic and fast learning, including the talented teachers. Currently the group are writing their names in Japanese for some Christmas card origami creations.

Thanks go to Mrs Atkins and Mrs Cox, as well as Mrs Moran for her delicious sushi session.
