The Yolanda Moore Memorial Award for Drama was presented at this year’s Speech Day for the first time in memory of Yolanda Moore, a Talbot Heath student from 2002-2011. Yolanda, known as ‘Landy’ by so many, was beautiful, kind and brave – truly amazing in every way. She loved to entertain audiences and was an inspiration to many. Tragically, Yolanda was killed in 2018 in a ‘hit and run’ incident in London and this led to the creation of the Yolanda Moore Foundation www.tymf.co.uk – a charity set up in her memory which is committed to helping disadvantaged, ambitious young people reach their goals. The Drama Department is honoured to introduce the Yolanda Moore Drama Award and pay tribute to Landy, her life and ongoing legacy.
The first recipient of the award is sixth form student Sasha A, who has displayed outstanding talent in drama during her A-Level course. Mrs McDonald said: ‘It is an honour to recognise Sasha’s commitment and passion for the subject of Drama. Her contributions to the school production of ‘Frozen’ and her ongoing involvement in running Drama Club were testament to her energy and talent.’
